About

I’m a Sheffield born former RAF aircraft electrician, who swapped servicing Harriers for a life in computers and information technology, when home computing was evolving from its 8-bit ZX Spectrum and BBC Micro infancy, into the 16-bit Atari and Amiga era. Since then, I’ve just about managed to keep pace with increasingly rapid progress to earn a living for 40 years.  

An amateur photographer since my teens, with a love of all things mechanical, including steam trains (thanks Dad), and cars, but predominantly things with wings.  Hence, I finally managed to combine these hobbies into writing what became a two volume set of books on the same theme.  

Now retired, earlier than anticipated (and certainly before the government think I should),  I’ve time to attempt to restore old film cameras, add more content to this website, and when given the chance travel, naturally enough to take even more photographs; as well as  sample the local delicacies and search for the best coffee (Caffe Del Doge from Venice is currently winning).
