Travel
They say you should always have something to look forwards to, and for many people that’s usually a holiday. An escape from the same four walls, the humdrum of day to day life, just get out and see somewhere else. It doesn’t matter if its within your own country, or further afield, if you’re lucky much further, its somewhere different.
In the case of the British Isles, we possess some beautiful and fascinating places. But adventures really begin when you board an aircraft, catch the Eurostar or embark on a ship, and depart this sceptered isle. Whether it’s for the food, to see something in particular or simply to explore, it’s the great unknown that keeps us coming back for more.
I’m lucky to have done all the above, from the package holiday heydays of the 70’s with my parents, to more recent transatlantic journeys with my family, Mediterranean cruises thrown in for good measure. Cameras of varying sorts have always accompanied me, though sadly I’ve no idea where the really old family photos have disappeared to.
For more than 10 years now, I’ve converted a dozen of my annual travel images into a calendar and distributed them round family and friends. (Some year were harder than others! During COVID I raided the stash of 35mm slides and negatives)
In one particular case, our favourite florists, they gather round on Christmas Eve when I drop them the latest edition off, seemingly eager to see where we’ve been this year.
So here’s some of the places I’ve been, I intend to add many more and for as long as I can.
